Copy Editing, Proofreading and Ghostwriting

In order to be able to work with your manuscript, I would need a copy in Microsoft Word along with a reading fee of £50.
I’ll then read through it and copyedit the first chapter (up to 3500 words). I will highlight the changes I make and return the file, giving a brief critique and a quote for a full copyedit. From that, you will get an idea of how much work is needed on the manuscript. It gives you an idea of how I would work with you on your manuscript and you can make a decision on whether or not you think we’d be suited to work together. Then we can agree a time-scale of when you can expect the copyediting to be completed.

Copyediting corrects errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling but it also helps in other areas:
Continuity and pace – or lack of it
Plot-holes, characters or sub-plots that hinder rather than help the story along
Author’s voice, anachronisms and stilted or unnatural dialogue
Clumsy prose and ‘Purple prose’
The over-use of clichés, adjectives and adverbs
‘Show and tell’ – not enough of one and too much of the other
‘Head-hopping’ – too frequent change in Point of View

Ghostwriting is more complex and therefore I would need to work closely with you. Please contact me for details

My work is not finished until you are satisfied
